Arthur C. Clarke Foundation Unveils New Website

(Washington, D.C., Monday, May 24, 2004) – The Arthur C. Clarke Foundation (ACCF) today unveiled a new, consolidated website at www.clarkefoundation.org to replace its existing framework of separate Internet locations for the Foundation and its affiliates, most notably the Clarke Institute for Telecommunications and Information (CITI). This website and its mission are endorsed by Arthur C. Clarke. The content on the web site is reviewed by Sir Arthur on a routine basis.

“For all involved at the beginning, and for all who have followed, the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation represents an endless opportunity to enhance Sir Arthur Clarke’s legacy, and to share that opportunity with other like-minded institutions,” said ACCF chairman Tedson J. Meyers. “Our revised website will serve as the official clearinghouse for exciting new and continuing initiatives that will keep Sir Arthur’s work and imagination in front of millions of current and future admirers.”

Meyers, who retired recently from the global law firm Coudert Brothers LLP, was, along with ACCF vice chairman Dr. Joseph N. Pelton, among the founding members of the Foundation. A board of directors meets monthly in Washington, D.C. International board members join by teleconference.

Speaking from his home in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Sir Arthur hailed the revised new site as “a repository for the good work being carried on in my name.” Clarke, who at nearly 87 years old, maintains a full-time schedule of writing, television and film production and on-camera appearances, said the new website “will centralize information relevant to activities I support and want to see prosper.”

The ACCF was formed in 1983 during the International Telecommunication Union’s World Communications Year.
