Help the Foundation sustain Sir Arthur's legacy: A call to actionThe Arthur C. Clarke Foundation was created in 1983 to project and sustain the words, wit, and wisdom of Sir Arthur C. Clarke, author of 2001: A Space Odyssey and the inventor of the communications satellite. Many people know Clarke through his books and movies. But many more– indeed, most of humankind – have been affected by the growth and evolution of the global village based in large part on “his” satellites. The main project before the Foundation – and the initiative most treasured by Sir Arthur – is the establishment of an Arthur C. Clarke Center for the Study of Human Imagination, in conjunction with a major university system. Several years in planning already, this Center is dedicated to learning how creativity arises, how it can be encouraged and cultivated through childhood and youth into adulthood, and how some people, like Sir Arthur, remain creative and engaged for an entire very long lifetime, with no apparent decline in the ability to perceive things in new ways. The Foundation also manages a series of annual awards and scholarships, and these efforts will continue into the future. Sir Arthur was deeply engaged, on nearly a daily basis, in the creation of the Center. His death gives urgency to the effort to find a permanent home for it. The Foundation will continue its outreach to the world academic community to find the best fit for the Center and its agenda of establishing a research program into the origins and development of human imagination. This would be a fitting tribute to a man who helped change everything. If you would like to know more, contact Tedson Meyers, Chairman, The Arthur C.
